Clinton Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 12 oz. package chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In small bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. In large bowl, thoroughly mix shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add flour mixture to egg mixture and mix. Fold in oats. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake 8 to 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool about 2 minutes before removing them from cookie sheet.
